What ClearCorrect is

ClearCorrect is a clear aligner system made by Straumann, one of the largest and longest-established names in dentistry. Instead of brackets and wires, you wear a sequence of custom-made transparent trays that fit closely over your teeth and are changed as treatment progresses.

The trays are trimmed to follow the gum line, which helps them sit discreetly and comfortably. They are removable, so there are no food restrictions and cleaning your teeth stays exactly as it was before treatment.

How treatment works

Treatment starts with a free consultation and a digital scan - no putty impressions. From that scan we plan the movement of each tooth and show you a preview of the expected result before you commit to anything. If aligners are not the right answer for your teeth, we will say so and talk through the alternatives.

You then wear each set of trays for around 22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush. You move through the series at the intervals we set, with review appointments at the practice to check progress against the plan.

Retention afterwards

Teeth drift back towards their old position if nothing holds them, so retainers are part of the treatment rather than an optional extra. We fit retainers once your teeth are in their final position - usually worn at night - and many patients choose to finish with whitening or a little edge bonding now that the teeth are straight.

Common questions

ClearCorrect: your questions answered

How long does ClearCorrect treatment take?

It depends on how far your teeth need to move. Mild front-tooth crowding can be corrected in a few months, while cases involving bite correction take considerably longer. You will be given a realistic timescale and a preview of the expected result at your free consultation, before you commit to anything.

Will people notice I am wearing them?

The aligners are made from clear medical-grade plastic and are trimmed along the gum line, so they are very difficult to spot at conversational distance. They are also removable for photographs and special occasions, though hitting the 22-hour daily target is what keeps treatment on schedule.

How does ClearCorrect compare to Invisalign and 32Co?

All three straighten teeth with clear removable aligners and all three are planned digitally before you start. They differ in how cases are planned and priced: 32Co cases are planned by a specialist orthodontist, Invisalign has the longest track record and the widest case range, and ClearCorrect is Straumann's system. At your free consultation we will tell you honestly which suits your teeth and your budget.

Will I need a retainer afterwards?

Yes. Retention is required after any orthodontic treatment. Retainers are fitted at the end of your course and are typically worn at night for the long term - wearing them as instructed is the single biggest factor in keeping your result.
